Russia

One of the biggest current problems in the realms of cyberspace is the problem we have with governments funding essentially public hacking organizations to do their dirty work for them. This applies most prevalently to Russia’s hacking attempts because their attempts are the most well-known and documented. They constantly attempt to mess with their neighbors such as Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Ukraine, and others.

Some recent examples of Russian interference are seen in the 2016 presidential election and the recent attacks on Eastern European countries. Obviously, there was interference in the 2016 election when Russian hackers intervened on Facebook to push ads and support President Trump's campaign. This is a vital matter of security because another country just interfered in our election that is supposed to be democratic. With the interference of the Russians, it no longer was completely unbiased.

In Eastern European countries, Russia has been interfering for decades after the fall of the Soviet Union. They started by attacking Estonian governmental servers after Estonia removed a statue that praised the Soviets. Ever since then, they have interfered electronically with all of the countries in the region, most specifically Ukraine and the Baltic countries.
