Krebs On Security

Brian Krebs owns a blog called KrebsonSecurity where he posts all of the news that he finds and has been posting that for years. Some of his most famous stories have been ones on McColo, a Californian hosting company that hosted many of the spam companies in the world, and a breach of Target that resulted in 40 million credit cars being stolen from the companies' database.

McColo

McColo was a hosting company in California that hosted most of the spam companies that spam called and emailed people all over the world. According to Krebs himself, "experts say (McColo) was responsible for facilitating more than 75 percent of the junk e-mail blasted out each day globally" and once it was shut down the volume of spam worldwide was reduced tremendously.

Target Breach

The Target Breach was a terrible security hack that revealed the credit card information of over 40 million customers of Target to the hacker. Brian Krebs, after hearing about this, quickly found the hacker and posted his information publicly so that he could be arrested and brought in for his crimes. Thankfully, the hacker did not release many of the credit cards online, instead choosing to save them to sell at a later date. ("The Target Breach by the numbers")
